Rochester Facts
Getting There By Air -- Greater Rochester International Airport, 1200 Brooks Ave. (tel. 716/464-6000; www.rocairport.com), is 4 miles southwest of Rochester. The airport is serviced by American, AirTran, Continental, Delta, Jet Blue, Northwest, United, and US Airways.
By Car -- Rochester is north of I-90 (New York State Thruway), reached by either Route 490 or 590.
By Bus -- Greyhound and Trailways travel to the terminal at 187 Midtown Plaza (tel. 585/232-5121).
By Ferry -- Beginning in May 2004, a new Rochester-Toronto high-speed ferry will cross Lake Ontario in 2 hours, 15 minutes. Call the Greater Rochester Visitors Association (tel. 800/677-7282) for more information.
Visitor Information The Center City Visitor Information Center is located at 45 East Ave., Suite 400 (tel. 800/677-7282; www.visitrochester.com). There are also tourism information centers on the first floor of the Greater Rochester International Airport and at the rest stop of the New York State Thruway (westbound lane) near exit 45.
Getting Around Regional Transit System (RTS) buses traverse the major routes downtown. An All-Day City Pass ($4) is good for unlimited rides and can be purchased on buses. Call tel. 800/288-3777 for information.
